The challenge of landscape painting is three fold: Create a believable perspective space, balance light relationships, and populate the scene with recognizable objects in a harmonious relationship. Relief has the same goals, with light relationships being the most interesting to me, considering that varying the light falling on the relief completely shifts those relationships.
