I have been watercoloring since the early 1970's. It is the simplest, most direct form of painting I know. Yet many artists are afraid of watercolor painting. It is considered difficult to master, and the paints and paper expensive. This is a fallacy. I liken watercoloring to cooking, where every color is a potential ingredient in a dish. So if you like to cook and experiment with food, you will be right at home watercoloring. You don't need foie gras and caviar to make a tasty dish. The joy comes from experimenting and learning. Inexpensive watercolor sets, watercolor crayons, and mixed media paper are just fine. Here are some of my watercolors dating back as early as 1971.
