PHOTOGRAPHY

       In my teens, I learned photography from my father, working in a darkroom in our house.  After graduating from Brown University in 1966 with a BS/BA in chemistry, I paid my way through the University of Pennsylvania law school taking college graduation pictures, developing them at home and sending the prints to the graduates’ parents.  

       While at law school I photographed anti war demonstrations in Philadelphia and Washington, DC and at the Woodstock music festival.  

       When I moved to New York City in 1970, I set up a color darkroom in my 7th street loft, experimented with color photography and continued to take photos around the city and on Cape Cod during vacations until Janine and I moved to Cape Cod in late 1978.

       I have continued to take photos (digital since about 2000) ever since, both as an aid to my relief work, and as a separate medium.

PHOTOS 1979-2000

After I gave up my darkroom in about 1973 and until the advent of digital photography in about 2000, most of my pictures were taken with Minolta SLR’s using slide film, many on Cape Cod.  Here are the best of those, scanned from the slides.

DIGITAL PHOTOS 2000 TO DATE

Since the advent of digital photography I have taken many more photos.  I first used an early Kodak, then several Panasonics.  I tried a Nikon SLR, but it was too much camera.

PHOTOS IN MUSEUMS

I BRING A SKETCH PAD AND CAMERA WHENEVER I VISIT A MUSEUM.  I WATCH THE PEOPLE IN MUSEUMS AS WELL AS THE ART.  I SKETCH AND PHOTOGRAPH BOTH THE ART AND THE PEOPLE.  I LOVE THE UNUSUAL SPACES AND VISTAS IN MUSEUM ARCHITECTURE .  HERE ARE SOME OF MY MUSEUM PHOTOS.
